Use this dialog to add or edit a rule belonging to the currently active filter. Control

Description

Regular expression

Select this option if you want to base the rule on a regular expression. Otherwise, the rule will be treated as a shell expression, thus matching any character in file and/or folder names for each '?' character in the rule, and accepting any sequence of characters in file and/or folder names for each '*' character in the rule.

Rule

Enter the expression of the rule in accord with your selection of Regular expressions i.e. either a regular or a shell expression. Use the '?' character in the rule to match any character in file and/or folder names, and the '*' character in the rule to accept any sequence of characters in file and/or folder names.

Choose...

When not basing the rule on Regular expressions, have convenient access to pre-defined, well-known shell expressions, which can be combined into complex shell expressions simply by clicking the mouse buttons.

Target

Select which file-system resources the rule will apply to—files, folders, or both.

Action

Choose either to include or exclude the matching files and/or folders from the comparison.
